About Us

At Cranswick Milton Keynes, we're on a mission to become the largest sliced cooked meat manufacturer in Europe, a Net Zero business, and a positive force in our local community. We're a large-scale food manufacturing site supplying major UK retailers, and Tesco is one of our biggest single partnerships across the wider Cranswick group.

The Role

We're looking for a Senior National Account Manager to lead the commercial relationship with Tesco on our SCM category, day to day and strategically. You'll be the driving force behind the Category, Innovation and Quality agenda with Tesco and our site teams, working closely with Category, NPD, Purchasing & Planning, Finance, Technical, Operations and Logistics to deliver an outstanding service to Tesco and help them win in the market, all while keeping commercial performance on track for the site.

You'll sit on the site's Senior Leadership Team, helping set the strategic direction and translating that into clear OKRs for the wider business.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Acting as “Category Champion” for Tesco – governing range, promotions and sales performance within the wider SCM category, and identifying growth opportunities
  • Maintaining and administering the open book costing model, including inflation recovery, and spotting opportunities for cost optimisation
  • Understanding and interpreting site financials against budget, scrutinising the P&L and addressing margin underperformance
  • Coordinating and facilitating monthly, quarterly and annual review meetings with Tesco
  • Creating and delivering an effective Buy, Move, Grow plan
  • Maintaining and optimising promotional and sell plans to drive volume and share growth
  • Keeping a close eye on forecasting to help deliver service in full
  • Ensuring Tesco's KPIs are understood and consistently met
  • Bringing a strong awareness of carcass utilisation, valuation and market conditions to the role
  • Supporting the B2B team with opportunities for indirect Tesco supply
  • Managing and developing your direct reports
What We're Looking For
  • Essential: Chilled food and retail experience with a Top 4 UK grocery retailer (Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda or Morrisons)
  • Essential: A minimum of 5 years' experience in a National Account Manager or equivalent senior commercial role
  • Solid understanding of the sales, marketing and NPD process
  • Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Sharp attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • A proactive, flexible approach to work
  • Confident with the standard office software suite
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience managing and developing a team
Additional Details
  • Based at our Milton Keynes site (MK4 4AE), with regular travel to Tesco's offices in Welwyn Garden City (AL7 1TW) and occasional travel to other Cranswick sites
  • Some occasional weekend cover required
What's In It For You
  • Salary of £65,000 - £80,000, depending on experience
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Company car allowance, with access to our electric car scheme
  • BUPA private healthcare, with family cover included
  • The chance to lead one of the biggest single account partnerships across the Cranswick group
