We have a dedicated Engineered Solutions team who work collaboratively to identify, defend and secure opportunities within Civils & Drainage channel markets, and it's within this team that we are looking to hire a Sales Engineer, known internally as a Technical Sales Advisor.

So, what’s the mission?

We're looking for a commercially minded professional who is experienced in Identifying, developing and converting sales opportunities by providing technical expertise and commercially focused solutions. Location isn't a barrier, we welcome applications from candidates across the UK.

Working within our Engineered Solutions team, you'll collaborate with contractors, consultants, merchants and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities, interpret technical drawings, recommend engineered drainage solutions and convert enquiries into orders. This role is responsible for the early identification of sales opportunities and managing these through to quotation and conversion.

  • Identify sales opportunities early and drive them through to quotation and conversion.
  • Review technical drawings and produce accurate material take-offs.
  • Prepare competitive, accurate quotations to win and retain business.
  • Provide expert product and technical support throughout the sales process.
  • Proactively generate and develop project opportunities within the C&D channel.
  • Use strong commercial awareness to maximise sales and profitability.
  • Collaborate across teams to secure, defend and successfully deliver projects.
  • Manage multiple opportunities effectively, ensuring excellent customer service and follow-up.
  • Combine technical expertise and sales focus to achieve growth targets.

What are the mission-critical skills?
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications is essential
  • Previous Estimator experience is highly desirable
  • Proven success in a proactive, team‑based sales environment (Sales experience from heavy goods manufacturing / construction/ civils and drainage highly desirable)
  • Confident generating and converting opportunities through outbound activity
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to identify value‑engineered solutions
  • Excellent communication skills across customers and internal teams
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Customer‑focused, with strong problem‑solving and resolution skills
  • Comfortable working to targets and planning activity to deliver results
  • Accurate and disciplined use of CRM systems at project level
  • Good awareness of competitors, products and market trends
