Role Responsibility

Do you want to help shape the future Public Rights of Way (PRoW) and access provision in Kent?

Are you looking to progress your career in public rights of way and access management or to apply town and country planning knowledge and skills in the protection and improvement of Public Rights of Way?

The Public Rights of Way and Access Service is responsible for the recording, protection, maintenance and improvement of Kent’s 7000 km of footpaths, bridleways and byways. The network provides unparalleled access to Kent’s countryside and is vital in supporting the rural economy, tourism and health as well as access to amenities and services.

Your primarily focus will be on ensuring that PRoW are protected and improved through the planning and development process. Working closely with planners and developers you will help shape plans, respond to consultations and will seek where appropriate to secure links from new development to existing access and developer contributions to address additional pressures on existing provision.

Working in a fast-paced environment you will also act as the professional lead for planning and development issues, providing support and training to colleagues.

You will have proven experience of working within Public Rights of Way and or planning and development. You will be able to display excellent organisation and communication skills and be able to prioritise and manage your time effectively. You will have excellent IT skills.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
