Pharmacy Technician - GP Practice & PCN Support - Remote
Virtual Pharmacist is inviting applications from GPhC-registered pharmacy technicians who are interested in providing remote pharmacy technician services to GP practices and primary care networks in England as independent contractors.

- Engagement type: independent contractor, self-employed
- Service area: remote GP practice and PCN clinical pharmacy support
- Typical workload: around 18 to 30 hours of clinical work per week, taken on assignment by assignment
- Location: remote, home-based, England
- Systems: EMIS Web, SystmOne and/or Medicus experience preferred
- Rates: £18 to £20 per hour, invoiced for services provided and accepted
About Virtual Pharmacist
Virtual Pharmacist provides managed remote clinical pharmacy services to GP practices and primary care networks across England. Our clinical and operational teams support the delivery of safe, structured and well-governed medicines-management services.
What the work may involve
- medicines reconciliation
- prescription and repeat request processing
- medicines queries within the technician scope of practice
- accurate recording in the relevant clinical system
- escalation of clinical, safeguarding or service concerns where appropriate
- liaison with GP practice teams where needed for safe service delivery
What we are looking for
- current GPhC registration as a pharmacy technician
- experience in general practice, PCN, primary care or medicines management
- confidence using EMIS Web, SystmOne and/or Medicus, or the ability to become familiar with the required systems
- good written communication and record-keeping skills
- a safe, organised and patient-focused approach
- an understanding of information governance and confidentiality requirements
Working with Virtual Pharmacist
Work is offered by Virtual Pharmacist through the VP Panel and is accepted assignment by assignment. Contractors are paid for services actually provided and properly invoiced in line with the agreed contractor terms. This is not an employed role and does not include holiday pay, sick pay, pension contributions or employee benefits.
