BBC Monitoring is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Journalist in Istanbul. We are looking for a dedicated journalist with a strong understanding of the Turkish and Middle Eastern media landscape, excellent research and writing skills, and a keen eye for detail. Conduct thorough research and analysis of Turkish and Middle Eastern media sources to identify relevant news stories and trends. Write and produce accurate and engaging news reports, features, and analysis pieces for a global audience. Monitor and track breaking news developments in the region and provide timely updates to the BBC Monitoring team. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of news content across various platforms. Maintain a network of contacts and sources within the Turkish and Middle Eastern media landscape to gather information and verify sources. Adhere to BBC's editorial standards and guidelines, maintaining impartiality and accuracy in all reporting. Stay up-to-date with current affairs and international news, with a particular focus on the region. Work collaboratively with other team members to develop and implement strategies for improving news coverage and reaching new audiences. Contribute innovative ideas for news stories and features that provide a unique perspective on events in the region. Represent BBC Monitoring at events, conferences, and other public engagements as needed. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in journalism, and share knowledge and insights with the team. Work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines and handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Communicate effectively with team members, editors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination and delivery of news content.
