Sunbird Care Ltd is looking for a caring, reliable and motivated Care Worker / Support Worker to join our team and provide high-quality, person-centred care to our Service Users.

We are particularly interested in candidates who drive and live in or close to Croydon, as the role involves travelling to support Service Users in their homes and within the community.

About the Role

As a Care Worker / Support Worker, you will provide compassionate support that promotes the dignity, independence, privacy, choice and wellbeing of Service Users.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing personal care and support to Service Users with a range of needs, illnesses and disabilities.
  • Supporting with washing, bathing, dressing and toileting.
  • Assisting Service Users with mobility and physical disabilities.
  • Using manual handling equipment safely and correctly.
  • Following good infection prevention and control practices.
  • Supporting Service Users with their care and support plans.
  • Assisting with medication where required and within the agreed level of support.
  • Preparing food and drinks according to individual preferences, nutritional needs and cultural requirements.
  • Providing companionship and emotional support.
  • Supporting Service Users to maintain contact with family and friends.
  • Accompanying Service Users on trips and activities in the community.
  • Maintaining accurate care and medication records.
  • Reporting concerns regarding the health, wellbeing, behaviour or safety of Service Users.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding Service Users from abuse.
  • Following health and safety procedures, Sunbird Care policies and relevant care standards.
  • Attending training and team meetings and being committed to continuous learning.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Lives in Croydon or within a reasonable travelling distance.
  • Has previous experience working in healthcare, social care or a similar care environment.
  • Has experience in personal care.
  • Has knowledge or experience of manual handling and moving & handling.
  • Understands the importance of infection control and good hygiene practices.
  • Is compassionate, respectful, patient and reliable.
  • Can work independently while also being a supportive team member.
  • Is committed to protecting the dignity, privacy, choice and independence of Service Users.
  • Has good communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Is willing to learn, develop and undertake regular training as part of their role.
