Overview of project/role:
As part of TfL’s world-class Surface Control Centre (SCC) our Business Logistics & Readiness team plays a key role in keeping London moving. It supports the 24/7 operation of the capital’s vast surface transport network, managing roads, 6,000 traffic signals, major tunnels, and a bus network that carries over a billion journeys each year by ensuring our teams are prepared, coordinated, and equipped to deliver safe, reliable journeys for everyone across the city. It’s a dynamic, diverse environment where collaboration, operational readiness, and continuous improvement come together to keep London running smoothly.

We now have an opportunity to join our busy team as a Business Logistics & Readiness Coordinator.

You’ll help drive the planning and readiness activity that keeps the SCC running smoothly. You’ll get involved in everything from preparing for major events, priorities, and projects to supporting business continuity and wider resilience work.

You’ll play an active part in shaping the SCC ongoing development — looking after the processes that keep us organised, helping to embed lessons learned, and making sure we’re ready for new ways of working, including the introduction of new technologies. You’ll also work closely with a wide range of internal and external partners, responding to issues and incidents as directed, and supporting the design, planning, and delivery of initiatives that strengthen control centre operations.

At times of high demand, you’ll step in to provide hands-on operational support, helping keep everything moving. You’ll also take ownership of the logistical details that keep our control centre ready for action — including the facilities our teams rely on every day.

Some unsocial working is required, this may include the occasional early, late, or night shifts, on weekends or public holidays.

Key Accountabilities:
Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
Work with key stakeholders across the Surface Control Centre (SCC), other Transport for London (TfL) business areas, bus operators and external agencies to help develop and improve SCC processes and activities

Build and maintain readiness plans that strengthen SCC resilience and business continuity, including evacuation and contingency procedures

Create and maintain operational processes for SCC teams, ensuring procedures are shared clearly and support day to day control centre activity

Support logistical activity, including working with the People Management Team and assisting with ad hoc tasks such as arranging staff travel during periods of industrial action

Collate and produce accurate documentation to support control centre operations, including meeting minutes, plans and other essential operational information

Help manage SCC facilities, including preparing and supporting the Fallback site and the Palestra Events Liaison Facility (PELF) so they are ready for use by colleagues and external partners

Provide operational support in real time when needed, helping teams during busy periods or planned activity to keep the control centre functioning smoothly
