Location: UK Wide (Remote / Home Based)

Salary: £13 – £17 per hour (£25,350 – £33,150 per annum equivalent, based on a 37.5-hour week)

Job Type: Part-Time (Full-Time options also available)

Reporting To: Finance Manager (Client Side)

About the Opportunity

Vita CV is currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a UK-based business looking to appoint a reliable Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to support day-to-day finance operations. This is a fully remote, part-time role with potential for full-time engagement, suited to candidates with prior bookkeeping or accounts experience.

About the Role The Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant will manage day-to-day bookkeeping including sales and purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, expenses, and basic reporting, supporting the wider finance function with accurate and timely records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain sales and purchase ledger including invoicing and supplier payments
  • Carry out regular bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies
  • Process employee expenses, receipts, and credit card transactions
  • Support month-end close including journals and routine reporting
  • Prepare aged debtor and aged creditor reports for review
  • Support VAT return preparation and HMRC submissions where required
  • Maintain accurate, well-organised digital finance records
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience in a bookkeeping, accounts assistant, or finance support role
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numerical data
  • Comfortable using cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Understanding of basic UK accounting principles and VAT fundamentals
  • Self-motivated and reliable in a fully remote environment
  • A stable home internet connection and a quiet workspace
Desirable (Nice to Have)
  • AAT qualified, part-qualified, or studying towards (or equivalent qualification)
  • Experience with payroll software or month-end reporting cycles
