Ambulatory Equine Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

You will be joining an established eight-vet ambulatory practice in the heart of the East Midlands, where you'll enjoy genuine clinical freedom and a varied, interesting caseload without the burden of inpatient management. The role includes a manageable 1:5-6 OOH rota with day-in-lieu compensation for weekend and bank holiday work.

Based in the beautiful Vale of Belvoir, the practice is within easy reach of Nottingham city centre and the Peak District. Your caseload will span Olympic and international-level sport horse yards, leisure and companion ponies, racing operations, and horses in some of the UK's finest hunting country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage your own caseload with the freedom to work cases through to completion
  • Provide ambulatory equine veterinary care across a diverse client base
  • Access guidance and clinical backup from an experienced team, including an Internal Medicine Certificate holder
  • Participate in collaborative case discussions, journal reviews, and CPD sessions
  • Utilise fully equipped vehicles and field-based diagnostic equipment to deliver thorough clinical work in the field

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of ambulatory and/or hospital equine experience
  • RCVS registration as a veterinary surgeon
  • Enthusiasm for clinical variety and independent case management within a supportive team environment

About the Practice

Home Farm Equine is an independent, purely ambulatory equine practice expanding its team in the East Midlands. The eight-vet practice combines clinical expertise with a collaborative, friendly culture. The team includes specialists with equine Internal Medicine Certification and ongoing post-graduate training, supported by a dedicated office team.

The practice operates from a location in the Vale of Belvoir, strategically positioned between Nottingham and the Peak District. All vets benefit from comprehensive field-based diagnostic equipment, including four wireless digital radiography machines, three endoscopes, a gastroscope, power dental equipment, and laser equipment for sarcoid removal, enabling thorough case work-up without the need for overnight hospitalisation.
