About AI training and why it matters
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building intelligent systems: people label examples, review model outputs, and provide feedback that helps models learn. This work is highly accessible, often part‑time and remote, and places contributors at the center of how AI systems are shaped.
- Flexible remote work you can do from anywhere with a reliable internet connection.
- Entry‑level opportunities that reward attention to detail and consistent quality.
The role
As an AI Quality Analyst you will review text prompts and AI‑generated responses, then assign labels according to predefined guidelines. Every response is evaluated for accuracy, relevance, clarity, and safety.
This is a contract, part‑time role (less than 20 hours/week), open worldwide. You will receive clear instructions and examples to ensure consistent annotations; quality checks and random audits will be used to maintain labeling standards.
- Data type: text.
- Label types: classification and text generation evaluation.
- Experience level: entry level — prior labeling experience is helpful but not required.
What you'll do day to day
- Read prompts and model responses and mark labels based on provided guidelines.
- Evaluate outputs for accuracy, relevance to the prompt, clarity of expression, and safety concerns.
- Follow concrete examples and instructions to keep annotations consistent.
- Participate in periodic quality audits and respond to feedback to improve accuracy.
- Meet weekly labeling targets while maintaining high quality.
Requirements
- Basic English reading and writing skills required.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and guidelines closely.
- Stable internet connection to meet deadlines and weekly targets.
- Prior data labeling or annotation experience is a plus but not mandatory.
Compensation & schedule
Pay is $5.00 USD per hour (pay‑per‑hour). This is a contractor, part‑time role with fewer than 20 hours available per week, so it’s a good fit for flexible schedules or supplemental income.
- Worldwide applicants are welcome.
- Payment is expressed in USD and paid on a per‑hour basis.
How the process works
Apply through OpenTrain by creating a free account and completing the brief application for this project. Onboarding includes clear instructions, examples, and practice tasks so you know exactly how to label.
Work is managed through OpenTrain’s task system; you'll receive feedback from quality audits and can improve your accuracy over time. Because this is contract work, you set availability within the project’s scheduling limits.
- You will be evaluated with occasional random audits to ensure label quality.
- Successful contributors who follow guidelines and meet targets may receive continued task access.
